Community Cleanup

Today, on Earth Day we walked around the community picking up trash/litter. We also went to Trilium Manor and cleaned up the gardens and property. Our main focus was to help out the community to seem more welcoming, clean and beautiful. Earth Day is a day to celebrate the beautiful land Mother Nature gave us. Now the neighbourhood is cleaner.

Milk Bags !

Do you have any extra milk bags that are lying around at home ? Well did you know that they are actually really usefull? By donating them to kind citizens around orillia they can make mattress for little boys and girls in forien countrys around the globe. Imagine how many milk bags it would take to make 1 mattress thats why we would need plenty of bags. If we got our whole school to bring in milk bags we could make a big difference in many kid’s lives. If you are interested in brining some in you only need to bring in the outer bag not the little clear plastic bag that actually hold the milk. When i think of  sleeping on a milk bag mattress i imagine what they were sleeping on before. The ground? a thin blanket maybe? I am just glad that i can be a part of helping people across the world. so if you want to help , bring in those milk bags!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

Donations for the Couchiching Jubilee House

Over the last few weeks our class has been learning and talking about the Couchiching Jubilee House (CJH). Recently Marianne, who is in charge of the CJH came into our class to tell us about the CJH. She told us about the families that lived their and what the CJH is all about. The CJH is a place where women and children can come to after leaving difficult situations. The CJH helps them to feel save and secure and to feel like their is always someone who is their for them. The CHJ helps the families that come their to get back into a healthy, normal routine so that they can have a better life. Right now the CJH needs more bathroom products. So, our class has been collecting items like shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, laundry detergent and other bathroom products to donate to the CJH. We hope that we can help the families that live at the Couchiching Jubilee House!!!

The Couchiching Jubilee House

We collected items to give to the families in the Coochiching Jubilee House because we feel that they must be going through a lot when they are coming to the end of the year that they are spending there. We believe that all of this stuff that we have donated will help them to get back on track and have money for other things that they need. This made me feel very fortunate for all the things that I have and it made me appreciate more of the little things. I will look at things differently now that we have done this, and I hope the rest of the class feels that way too.

We Ran For Terry!!!

Every day since school started all the grade 4’s, 5’s, 6’s, 7’s, and 8’s have been training for the Terry Fox Run. Well all that training added up. Today the whole school did the Terry Fox Run in the morning where we had to run up Orma hill and around the block. Some people chose to walk and others chose to run. We did as many laps as we could and then went into the back of the school. It was really fun. 🙂   It was tiring but I think that everyone had a good time. I cant wait to do it again next year. We ran to remember Terry and to keep his dream alive. GO TERRY!!

Training for Terry

The intermediate and junior divisions have been running/walking in training for the up coming school Terry Fox run. Our grade 7/8 class alone has run over 1000 laps around the school field. The divisions hope to run “across Canada” just like Terry.  We are have the Terry Fox run on Thursday, September 27, 2012, so don’t forget to bring your running shoes. Please donate money to help cancer research. www.terryfox.org
